Transform Your Style Through These 5 Tips

Transform Your Style Through These 5 Tips

There is a universal truth that states that style is often overcomplicated, and I am sure we can each find ourselves in that. Over the years, we all made a few fashion faux pas, bought the wrong items, and often tried to replicate the wrong people. While it may take years to find your style and embrace it, here are five changes that can make the process easier.

"Apply the 80/20 principle, 20% of the things you do to your appearance will create an 80% improvement."

THE PERFECT FIT

Hands down, the way your clothes fit can set you apart.

You could buy a $10,000 designer suit that does not look good and turn a $200 into one that makes you look and feel like a million bucks. Choosing the right fit is a lesson we all had to go through. There is a theory behind the fit, but it all starts with the basics. Once you get those down, you will become a natural. As a basic rule, the less the fabric, the better. There is a fine line between too big and too tight, and a lot of it comes down to personal preference. Whichever approach you choose, your clothes should hug your body.

If you are wearing a dress shirt and can grab one or two handfuls or feel as if you have sailed on the side and back, then you know your shirt is too big; It needs to get tapered to be more slim fitting. A simple way you can do this is by discovering how a suit should look. You can also apply this rule to your casual outfits.

DO NOT FORGET THE SHOES

We once interviewed random women on the streets and asked what they liked about a man. The top two most popular answers were confidence and shoes. Wear a white t-shirt with a pair of jeans and some sneakers, and you get a casual outfit. Wear a white t-shirt with a pair of jeans and some tan loafers, and you get a smart and casual outfit, ready for a drink at a bar or a date. Invest in good quality boots, and you can instantly level up.

KEEP IT CLASSY

Looking back to the Style Icons of the 1940s, the 1950s, the 1960s, did they wear suits? Blazers? Denim? Chinos? Timeless clothes are clothes that were trendy or classic in their era and remain relevant today. Focus on timeless style, as it would allow you to buy fewer items; it will help keep things effortless. For instance, a clean navy suit will never be off-trend, and it will always look good. Buying timeless items alongside sticking with key colors holds good benefits. Sure, there is nothing wrong with on-trend items or injecting some color and print, but your closet should work around timeless essentials.

WEAR LESS, BUY LESS

As men, we tend to overcomplicate things; We layer up too much, wear too many accessories, and the wrong pieces, all of which harm our image.

Wear less. Keeping it simple is the best thing you can do. As long as the fit is on point, you are wearing good shoes, and the items are of high quality like our shoes, then you do not need to layer as much as you think you do. You should avoid buying a new shirt which is on sale every weekend for your night out. A minimal closet filled with timeless, well-manufactured pieces trumps a closet piled with various bargains you’ve only worn a few times.

CREATE A SUBTLE STATEMENT

Don’t get it twisted; keeping your look simple does not mean you are throwing away the ability to make a statement. If you blend in with everyone else, how are you going to stand out?

Create a subtle statement through the accessories you wear and layering while making sure it is not overdone. Try adding a good watch, a pocket square, or a good pair of loafers. So there we have it, five simple tips to help any man make a closet transformation.
